Mandy Moore Reflects on Marrying Young and Finding Happiness
After Divorce
Actress Mandy Moore, known for her role in "This Is
Us," is taking a retrospective look at her decision to tie the knot at a
young age of 24.
In a recent episode of the Dinners on Me podcast, the
39-year-old actress opened up about how her parents' divorce influenced her
decision to marry her first husband, rocker Ryan Adams, back in 2009. Moore
revealed that witnessing her parents' enduring relationship, which began when
they were teenagers, and their subsequent split left her heartbroken and
seeking stability. This led her to believe that she could build a family with
Adams, despite it not being the right fit. The marriage ended in a split in 2015
and a finalized divorce in 2016.
Reflecting on that chapter of her life, Moore shared how it
left her feeling hollow and isolated, despite seeming like the appropriate step
at the time. However, she has since found love and happiness with her current husband,
Taylor Goldsmith, whom she married in 2018. Together, they have welcomed two
sons, August "Gus" Harrison and Oscar "Ozzie" Bennett
Goldsmith.
Looking back, Moore expressed gratitude for the lessons
learned from her past marriage and how it shaped her into the person she is
today. She acknowledged the unhealthy dynamics of her previous relationship and
how it led her to belittle herself. However, she emphasized that she now feels
like a different person, grateful for the growth and the opportunity to find a
loving partner.
This isn't the first time Moore has spoken out about her
marriage to Adams. In a 2019 New York Times story, she was among several women
who accused Adams of being manipulative and controlling. Moore detailed how
Adams discouraged her from working with other professionals in the music
industry and belittled her talents.
Despite the challenges she faced, Moore has persevered and
moved forward with her life. She recognizes that life is about finding
happiness and fulfillment, even if it means making difficult choices. Through
the pain of divorce and the challenges of starting anew, Moore remains
resilient, guided by the belief that everything happens for a reason.
As she continues her journey, Moore serves as an inspiration
for others navigating the complexities of relationships and finding their path
to happiness.
